The Sock Hop

Have you ever been to a 'Sock Hop'? Do you even know what it is? Probably not if you were born since the 50's, unless you've heard your Mom and Dad, or maybe older sister or brother, talk about them. Well, back in 'the olden days', the local high school would have a dance after the football games. This dance was usually held in the gym, and because you couldn't wear street shoes on the gym floor, you would have to remove your shoes, and dance in your socks, thus the name 'Sock Hop' was born. Just a little history lesson for all you babies of the 'baby boomers'! ;)
